In order to take full advantage of the capabilities provided by threads, a standardized programming interface was required. A challenge of the assignment included learning the POSIX Threads API. The easiest way I found to visualize the runtime behavior of POSIX threads is the combination of EzTrace and ViTE. Both are available in Debian: $ sudo aptitude install eztrace vite. This is simple: to make these function threads-safe in an effective manner, glibc uses a mutex. This means that your thread should only do compute-bound things, and should avoid calling just about any system or library function. Everything about me,关于Programming with posix threads例子中的一个问题. Attempts to show how the library s features can be used in quot real-life quot programs It explains the different tools defined by the library shows how to use. Butenhof's excellent book Programming with POSIX Threads:. Each thread Completing this assignment provided a great introduction to parallel programming, Monte Carlo simulations, and the Posix Threads API. For UNIX systems, this interface has been specified by the IEEE POSIX 1003.1c standard (1995). See Butenhof's book, Programming with POSIX Threads, §6.6.4. The mutex is already locked by the same thread.
