Of the TDD practices commonly used by application coders. About Face 2.0: The Essentials of Interaction Design by Alan Cooper, Robert Reimann. Kent Beck, who popularised TDD and is generally considered the high guru of TDD and XP, wrote that when writing code do two things: Firstly, add a test, get it to fail, and write code to pass the test, and; Second, Remove duplication. In particular the following items are noticeably absent from the screencast: Practical value. Oh well, this book (Test-driven development: a practical guide by Dave Astels) is not so new. You could also start at the tSQLt home page where you can download the latest version of this free open source framework and will also find quick start and user guides. Yet, I believe that not so many developers (including myself) have really acknowledged the messages it conveys. I will then explain how tSQLt and SQL Test provide those same features for database developers and why they make it so much easier to do effective test-driven development in T- SQL. In order to achieve that I've left out a lot of complexity that you'd ordinarily encounter in software development. The first parts of the series are more theoretical, while as the last part will be fully practical, since we are going to implement some example code using TDD. But not all is peachy - There is one methodology that I'm having only partial success in convincing my team that they should use – namely Test Driven Development (TDD).
